U of M offers grant for students living on Lambuth campus

4/26/2012

Beginning with the fall 2012 semester, the University of Memphis (UofM) will offer the Campus Life Grant to full-time students who live on the former United Methodist-affiliated Lambuth Campus in Jackson.

The Campus Life Grant provides funding to undergraduate students who serve as leaders in campus organizations and activities. This includes involvement in academic organizations, programs, or activities; providing community service on campus; and participating in multicultural affairs, student government, activities, or recruitment; campus recreation or residence life.

To be considered for the grant, first-time freshmen must have a minimum 2.75 high school GPA. Transfer students must have at least a 2.5 GPA. Recipients must be full-time students and live in on-campus housing at the Lambuth Campus.

The grant is for one year with a possible renewal for a second year. For the first year, the award is $3,000 ($1,500 per semester); in the second year, the grant is $2,000 ($1,000 per semester).

“The Campus Life Grant is an excellent incentive for students who desire to live on campus but need some financial assistance to be able to do so,” said Betty Huff, vice provost for Enrollment Services and acting director of Admissions. “Students who participate in the program will have their cost of attendance reduced while being part of a student engagement opportunity that will establish both the academic and student life culture at the Lambuth Campus when the fall semester begins.”
