Dyer First UMC provides lot for Scouts to construct building

Boy Scout Troop 243 of Dyer, TN is getting its very own home, thanks in part to Dyer First UMC. Last year the church voted to allow the Troop to construct a building on a nearby vacant lot owned by the church – at the corner of Broad and Front Streets in Dyer.   The groundbreaking took place last October and construction is now underway after the Troop raised enough money to begin, said Rev. The Red Cross shelter in the Family Life Center at Dyersburg United Methodist closed May 18 after being open 15 days to serve residents of Dyersburg. “I believe we housed 44 people at our highest occupancy, but averaged 25 most evenings,” reported the Rev.
