More than 150 Board members, staff and friends of Wesley Senior Ministries gathered on October 12, to celebrate 40 years of caring for the elderly.
As an outreach of the United Methodist Church, this community of care-givers has been united in its mission to provide housing and healthcare to senior adults of moderate to limited income who live independently, with or without personal supportive services, and who choose to live in an active service-rich community with other seniors.
The following individuals received special recognition for their leadership roles within Wesley Senior Ministries: Nick Nash - President, Wesley Senior Ministries; Porter Robinson - Chair, Wesley Senior Ministries Foundation; Becky Kissinger - Chair, Wesley Housing Corporation of Memphis; Rev. Jerry Corlew – Founding Chairman and Trustee of the Wesley Senior Ministries Foundation; Rev. Paul Eubanks – Past Executive Director, Wesley Senior Ministries.
“Looking back over our strong history of caring for the elderly, there have been many individuals who have contributed to Wesley’s accomplishments,” said Larry Kaler, CEO, Wesley Senior Ministries.
“As I look to the future, I know Wesley will expand our ministry beyond the bricks and mortar of our existing communities to provide caring services and to touch the lives of the elderly in new ways. We are a strong and vibrant organization that will continue to find ways to serve in response to the love of God,” Kaler said.
Headquartered in Cordova, Tenn., Wesley Senior Ministries is a housing and healthcare ministry chartered to provide caring services that enhance the quality of living for elderly persons, regardless of race, creed, sex, disabling condition or ability to pay. Operating primarily within the bounds of the Memphis Conference, Wesley serves approximately 1,500 residents in three assisted living communities and 21 senior housing communities in West Tennessee, Western Kentucky and Arkansas.
