Church and Society Action Team
The Rev. Cynthia Davis is the Church and Society Team Leader. Contact her at davis9551@bellsouth.net.
The Church and Society Team advocates values, policies, education, training and ongoing ministries devoted to diversity, inclusiveness, ecumenical cooperation, peace and social justice in the Annual Conference and beyond. It provides inclusiveness monitoring, evaluation and accountability.
In 2009 and beyond, emphasis will be placed on engaging the broader society in a way that is in keeping with our Wesleyan heritage of social action.
One of the most successful efforts of the new action team is the availability of legal clinics in local churches across the Annual Conference. Linda Seely, a lawyer from Jackson, Tennesse and liason with regional Bar Associations, has spearheaded the effort to organize and offer the clinics where people are most in need of the assistance.
