Memphis Conference Youth Connection

In the Memphis Conference, we firmly believe that our youth are NOT the church of tomorrow. Instead, they are every bit the church of the right now. If God, in the wisdom of the incarnation, could entrust the salvation of the world to a 13-year-old girl from Nazareth in Galilee (Mary), then who are we to think that youth have little to offer us today?
The Memphis Conference Youth Connection (MCYC) is our programming and leadership development ministry for UM youth in our little corner of the United Methodist Church. It consists of 28 members: 19 youth, 9 adults, and two ex-officio persons. The Youth members include 7 District Representatives and 12 at-large members elected at the Youth Annual Conference Day Rally in late spring of each year. Youth can be nominated by their youth group, youth minister or pastor and are asked to serve faithfully for a minimum of 2 years.
The MCYC has been well represented at the sessions of the Memphis Annual Conference each year and have been committed to having their voices heard. In addition, they have planned and facilitated the follow annual programs:
·        The 30 Hour Famine Winter Retreat at Lakeshore
·        The Spring Jr. and Sr. High Spiritual Life Retreat at Lakeshore
·        Youth Annual Conference Day Rally
·        A Mission Project/Event at each Memphis Annual Conference
·        Reelfoot Rural Ministries Fall Mission Weekend
·        The Fall Jr. and Sr. High Spiritual Life Retreat at Lakeshore.
The Memphis Conference is very proud of our youth who work hard each year to raise money and offer grants to meaningful youth projects around the globe and here at home through the YOUTH SERVICE FUND. When you have the opportunity, please be generous in supporting your youth’s fundraising efforts.
